Return to Valley Bridge Lyrics

The power of an ocean wave crashing onto the beach after traveling so many miles is unforgettable. The fact that it dies out at the end of its journey in a manner of seconds, only for the cycle to continue just seconds later, time after time, reminds me of the life cycle of humans. After our journey ends, we all step aside to give the next generation room to live and do its thing. We are eventually called back to our origins. It can also be looked at that we become part of Mother Earth again, which gave us the chemical elements to become who we are. Like a wave returning to sea to be recycled into a new wave one day, we return to the earth to recycle into new life.
The Next Wave

Stood on the beach, something became clear to me
As its journey ends each wave fades back to the sea
Only sand separates the sea from us on land
When our journey ends we become a memory
chorus
I had a notion since the ocean remains in motion
That life on land is similar to that of the sea
Like our ancestors who left so brave to their grave
Our journey will end to make room for the next wave
I canoed down the river at twilight just to relax
I heard a rumble, but the water seemed smooth as glass
Suddenly my bow fell --Waterfall! I yelled
My life passed before me in an instant flash
I tried to answer when I heard my name
I seem to rise in the air-- it feels so strange
Am I like the wave being called back to sea?
Not walking, not flying, I cannot explain
chorus
I had a notion since the ocean remains in motion
That life on land is similar to that of the sea
Like our ancestors who left so brave to their grave
Our journey will end to make room for the next wave
It seems too real to be considered a dream
I’m thinking St. Peter, what does all this mean?
There’s a gate ahead but I notice it’s locked
“Your time has not come”, a voice called out to me
I count my lucky stars since then
I haven’t reached the shore at journey’s end
I'm thankful for my time in motion
One day I'll proudly approach those gates again
chorus
I had a notion since the ocean remains in motion
That life on land is similar to that of the sea
Like our ancestors who left so brave to their grave
Our journey will end to make room for the next wave
My journey will end someday, but just not today
