So, if you are a betting person and you want to make some money with your co-workers, bet them $10 that they don't know what the tallest mountain on Earth is.

You may think you know the answer to this question. However, it is not what most think. See if this wording makes a difference:
What is the highest mountain on Earth?
That should make a difference. Tallest versus highest.
I know most think Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth. However, that is incorrect. Mt. Everest is the highest mountain on Earth. In this sense, highest is in reference to the highest elevation above sea level.
However, when you say tallest mountain, you speak of how tall it is without reference to elevation above sea level.
Mauna Kea is the highest point on the island of Hawaii. It is 13,799 feet above sea level. Mt Everest is 29,029 feet above sea level.
OK, with that information, take into consideration that Mauna Kea, from the sea bed to its peak, is 33,465 feet tall.
