May 17, 2014 Virginia State Meeting of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. A converted 1983 Ford Pumper fire truck with patriotic scenes and painted depictions of the Vietnam War was debuted at the Virginia War Memorial. Pictured are Mr. Fairchild - Virginia Leadership Council, Herb Delbridge - owner and creator of the fire truck and Mr. John Hatfield, Director of the VWM.

The mission of the Purple Heart Truck is to bring peace to those veterans who carry the burden of War.
The Purple Heart Truck travels the roads to bring smiles to faces, to listen to stories, to remember our friends past and present, to talk to all, to make new friends, to bring and share Honor to those who served this Great Nation and to share Herb Delbridge's story and his devotion to our service men and women

Operation Purple Heart Truck (OPHT) is a 100% volunteer organization that relies solely on the financial support from people in communities that we serve. The operation of a 25,000 lb. forty year-old firetruck requires fuel, oil, regular maintenance, insurance, and those unexpected repair bills. No-one with OPHT is compensated for their service. All funds received cover the operating costs of the truck and allow us to carry out our mission throughout the state of Virginia. (OPHT) is incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Contributions may be tax deductible; consult your tax adviser. Thank-you for your support! Look for our donation "Ammo Box" located on the rear bumper of the truck. You can also mail a donation to:

UPCOMING EVENTS FOR THE 2022 SCHEDULE

Dear Veteran,
If you are a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces we have a special invitation for you. The Purple Heart Truck has three community parades planned in November and December. We invite you to show your pride in your service and give honor to all Veterans and active duty personnel by riding atop the Purple Heart Truck. The truck can hold up to 12 Veterans from all branches of the service. Just pick your preference below and respond to the e-mail at the bottom of this page. This is a first come-first serve basis. We will confirm a spot for you and give you more details as we get closer to the event. Below are the events:


November 20, 2022 - Sunday 2pm Ashland/Hanover Olde Time Holiday Parade. Staging at 1:00, parade starts at 2:00.


December 4, 2022 - Sunday 2pm. Mechanicsville 2022 Rotary / Ruritan Christmas Parade. Staging at 12:45, parade begins at 2:00.


December 10, 2022 - Saturday 1pm. Varina Big Toy Parade - "Christmas Through a Child's Eyes." Staging @ 12:00, parade starts @ 1:00.
